This homeschool course begins with developing an understanding of the culture of the ancient Near East, which is necessary to understand the culture of the Bible. Then it takes you verse by verse through the narrative books of the Old Testament and a summary of the wisdom literature and prophets.
The goals of the course are, first, to give the student a deeper cultural and theological understanding of the Bible. The second is to help the student understand the narrative themes of these books and how they fit into the greater metanarratives of the Bible as one story of Yahweh’s redemption of humanity and creation.
This is a full year course that begins on August 24, 2026.

- Unit 1: The Culture of the Ancient Near East
- Unit 2: Genesis 1–11
- Unit 3: Genesis 12–25
- Unit 4: Genesis 25–50
- Unit 5: Exodus
- Unit 6: Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy
- Unit 7: Joshua, Judges, and Ruth
- Unit 8: 1 & 2 Samuel
- Unit 9: 1 & 2 Kings
- Unit 10: Pre-exilic Prophets and Wisdom Literature
- Unit 11: Daniel Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, and Post-exilic Prophets
For each unit the student will read through the Bible chapters for the unit and make observations that they will then be assessed on their understanding of the reading. Each day they will listen to the assigned audio teaching. Every three days they will take a quiz over the previous class audio teachings. And at the end of the unit they will take a fifty-point test.
