The purpose of this timeline is to provide a big picture of the chronology of the Bible and the themes that are developed throughout the books of the Bible. The goal is not to provide an exhaustive, in-depth study on the different books but to discuss the main idea of the stories and how those stories develop the of the Bible. The timeline provides an at-a-glace look at the whole Bible, while clicking on the different squares gives you an overview of the different time periods and stories of the Bible. I have done my best to provide an overview that is summarized sufficiently—to not be an overwhelming commentary in size and depth—yet still thorough enough to communicate the big picture of the Bible and help you see how all the stories fit together into the greater story of Yahweh redemption of humanity.
The ultimate goal of this timeline is to emphasize the themes and ideas of the stories to show how they all come together and find their fulfillment in the life of Christ. Though you can read the sections individually, I challenge you, in order to truly get the big picture, to read the entire timeline in chronological order.
NOTE: Only the first couple of squares in the timeline are complete. I will be creating the rest one by one throughout the school year of 2011-12
